PROFILE
The name RENTRER EN SOI means something along the lines of "return in self" in French, and this theme of self-reflection is an important theme to the five band members. The band's music is always evolving and they have a lot to offer: quite complex, melodious and sometimes heavy songs combined with Satsuki's low, despairing growls. On the other hand, melancholic and dream-like songs, which are complimented by graceful and emotional vocals, are also found in the band's extensive discography. Their looks have also changed drastically over the years. They started as a visual kei band with middle-ages inspired costumes and currently have a more mature and casual look. The band has also spread their activities overseas and have toured Europe and performed at a number of American anime conventions.

BIOGRAPHY
Rentrer en Soi formed in 2001, but their activities during their first two years were scarce. They released a few demo-tapes, a few singles that were only available at their lives, and that was it. At first, the band consisted of only four members: Satsuki on vocals, Takumi and Ao on guitar and Ryu on bass.A slow start didn't seem very promising, but their determination paid off a short time later. In 2003, Mika joined as the drummer, completing the line-up. It was around that time that they caught the attention of Yukari, former vocalist of the band BAISER, who had turned his focus toward producing bands. The result of their collaboration was released in January 2004, the mini-album Yurikago, which was distributed by the label Free Will, of which they were soon to become a part. Yukari's influence was audible on the mini-album and the band's songs seemed to sound quite a bit like BAISER's songs. This was definitely not a negative thing as their popularity increased along with the number of fans. On the same day as the release of the mini-album they held a one-man, which completely sold out. Right after their first one-man, Ao left the band and was replaced shortly after by Shun; the line-up has remained the same since then.A DVD that somewhat matched Yurikago was released in August. It contained PVs of the songs, which were all recorded in France. Shortly after, they released the single, Wither, and their first full length album, Sphire-Croid, followed a few months later, taking them into the new year. For this album, the members were all dressed in costumes that seemed to come directly from the middle ages. Some of the costumes such as those involving some harnesses might not have been very comfortable on stage, but it was a very unique style that hadn't been used by any other visual kei band. That same year, two new singles were released along with the twin mini-albums, Astre no Ito and Kein no Hitsugi, which were the last releases that Yukari produced for them.Perhaps because of the change of producer, their style began to change again and it was not the only thing that changed. They also changed their name to an all caps format. The evolution in sound was displayed even more clearly with the release of their self-titled album, RENTRER EN SOI, in May 2006. The gentle melodies had disappeared and it had a much rougher sound overall. Satsuki's whimpers and breathy voice had been replaced by growls and screams. Also their style shifted from visual kei and the band wore much more casual outfits and make-up.A number of new singles followed rapidly and the band started to prepare for another album, The bottom of chaos, released in August 2007. Before its release, the band took another important step in their career as they performed in Europe for the first time in July. They performed only two shows: one in France and one in Germany. A few months after, the band also got the opportunity to perform in the USA, at the anime convention Oni-con. In April 2008, the band was supposed to perform in the USA again, this time at the Clash Against Commercialism event, organized by their label Free Will in NYC. Unfortunately, the event was canceled, but the band still performed in the USA again, at another anime convention in June. For the future, RENTRER EN SOI has announced that they will be releasing a new mini-album called MEGIDDO in October. We're curious to see what they bring us, maybe their sound will change again? Moreover, it seems that whatever this band does, it is successful and we're sure that that they'll continue in this way!
