PROFILE
exist†trace is a relatively young, and not widely known, indie visual kei band. Their visuals can be described as typical gothic visual kei and, even though some of the members go for a more feminine look, their image remains dark. It matches their music well, which is gloomy and heavy with lots of screaming and occasional growling side by side with melodic singing. What is unusual about the band is the fact that all the members are female. They're not ostentatious with their femininity, any more than an average visual kei band is, and many fans don't even realize they're girls. exist†trace is definitely a band worth checking out.
BIOGRAPHY
exist†trace was created in June 2003 by Jyou, Miko, Naoto and Mari. Their debut live was held a few months later, on December 28, 2003.In February 2004 they released their first free demo-tape, Hai no yuki. The following month the band's line up was completed by Omi, a second guitarist. They continued to perform live and, in July, they released their second demo, Kokumu, also distributed for free. In August 2005 they released their first single, Ambivalence. 2006 witnessed the release of their second and third singles, in February and July respectively. From then on, the band's pace has continued to increase. In November they performed at Sequence Record's special event at Meguro Rock May Can, the recording of which was released on DVD in March 2007. A few days later, one of their songs was featured on an omnibus album, SUMMIT 03, alongside SULFURIC ACID and HIZAKI. The year ended with the release of their first mini-album, Annunciation -the heretic elegy-, the first press of which was accompanied by a DVD with their first PV. They started out 2007 by releasing a second press of their second maxi-single in January, and joined Gemmik for a coupling tour later that month. May witnessed the release of an omnibus album from Sequence Records, which featured the band's newest song. In July of 2007 they released the single Liquid before kicking off their fall tour. Through the beginning of 2008 exist†trace toured consistently, hosting lives as well as attending others, including Fool's Fest 08 and Gemmik's final live.In May 2008, exist†trace announced a suspension of activities, which lasted for three months. They reemerged with a revival live entitled Reprologue in August. In October of 2008 they scheduled a tour with Black:List and took Europe by storm with stops in Belgium, Germany, Paris and Finland. In November, exist†trace will be releasing a new album called Recreation eve. Though still young exist†trace has already proved their talent. They're definitely an interesting and very promising group, so keep an eye on them!
